Hello Racers, Friends, Fans & Family,
The retired Shane Hammond 37 will pace the field at Thompson
for the NEMA, Shane Hammond Memorial Race on October 17. This
will be the first time the memorial race is being held at
Thompson since Shane's crash. Many of you were there when the
season opened on April 5/6, 2008. This race is more than
special. Shane was an awesome shoe, relaxed, with a gleaming
smile and a good word for all. He had his share of mechanicals
and DNF's but it never wore him down. He loved racing, no matter
if he was on or off the track, it was his life, it was the blood
in his veins.
Shane's memory is living on through The Shane Hammond Believe
Foundation which has been assisting racers of all divisions from
the young karter to the old timers to think safety first. We ask
that your donation be made to the Shane Hammond Believe
Foundation so we may continue to strive for safety for all.
Racing is a dangerous sport but as a racer we push that aside.
It's the thrill, the rush, the calmness we may feel when we are
behind the wheel; on any track, on any day, at any speed. It's
who we are, we are part of a racing family.
Please visit the Shane Hammond Believe Foundation booth at
Thompson during the Sunoco World Series. Introduce yourself,
check out the 37, on display, purchase a memorial shirt or the
book that story begins on April 6, 2008; Track Rat.
No matter if you knew Shane or not, if you're involved in
racing you understand safety and know how important it is to
have an organization like this, that can extend help to all
racers near and far.
We look forward to seeing you and if you're interested in
being a sponsor for this race, please contact us ASAP. Our
shirts are in the final process to be printed. See you at the
track.
Believe,
